Description

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Ladder is a voluntary clinical leadership and career advancement program designed to recognize and reward professional excellence.

The purpose of the Career Ladder is to acknowledge the clinician’s accomplishments in 3 broad areas including:

  1. Clinical Expertise to assess the applicant’s professional and clinical attributes
  2. Institutional Citizenship & Leadership contributions to the Stanford Medicine and Stanford University community
  3. Professional Contributions to the Stanford Medicine community and the community at large

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

Applicants must be in a regular, benefited position employed by Stanford Health Care as a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for at least six (6) consecutive months. Applicants must be in an active status during the application cycle. 

In addition, the Direct Supervisor of the applicant will attest that the applicant meets all the following criteria to be eligible to apply:

  • Applicant’s medical licensure is current.
  • Applicant’s department-specific licensure/certification(s) up to date (DEA, BLS, ACLS, PALS, etc.).
  • Applicant’s HealthStream module completion is current.
  • Applicant’s credentialing and privileges are up to date with Medical Staff Services.
  • Applicant must have received a designation of "Acceptable/Fully Competent" on the last annual evaluation.
  • Applicant is under no form of discipline or corrective action. Applicants on an active Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) are unable to be promoted or maintain promotion until the PIP is successfully completed. Applicants under corrective actions including Verbal Warning Letters, Written Warning Letters, or Final Written Warning Letters within the previous twelve (12) months, March 2024 - March 2025, are unable to be promoted or maintain promotion.
  • Applicant must be a benefited employee at Stanford Health Care for a minimum of six (6) consecutive months from September 2024 - March 2025 before applying.

EXCLUSION CRITERIA:

  • Applicants employed through Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley or Stanford Medicine Partners are not eligible for this program.
  • Applicant is not a Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Nurse Specialist, or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
  • Applicant is in a relief, per diem, or locum position.
  • Applicant is on a leave of absence during the career ladder cycle.
  • If an employee’s renewal date for maintenance occurs during a time when they are on a leave of absence, the employee’s renewal date will be updated to the next cycle deadline.
